Why attempt to move the Pattern Archive from Armour Archive?[]
The Archive's Pattern Archive hasn't been updated since 2003 and the editor JT has been too busy to update it further and unwilling for security reasons to provide administrative access to his server to the membership to make updates themselves. The community has proposed many solutions to the issue over the years but none have ever been acted on until this wiki was created in 2010.
Why a wiki?[]
One of the issues that has plagued the community with regards both to the passing on of techniques and the availablilty of patterns has been the requirement for one or two dedicated editors to collate and update information. When this becomes too hard the process inevitably breaks down and the community loses out. A wiki allows any member of the community to contribute their knowledge and patterns without the need for prior moderation.
